Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog. It is new year and yes I am almost a month late but I just want to appreciate everyone for taking the time out to read my posts. Thank you, you are all amazing.
It is 2019 and I am definitely not your typical “resolutioner” but there is nothing wrong in wanting to start off right, making amends and letting go of the past, I mean I get it all. So in the spirit of new year, I want to share my top 10 quotes that I would like to live by and I encourage everyone to journey with me.
#10 – “Do not mind anything that anyone tells you about anyone else. Judge everyone and everything yourself.” – Henry James
#9 – “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” – Lao Tzu
Don’t be afraid to make that one step. It all counts, every little step you make comes together to make greater miles. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
#8 – “There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that is your own self.” – Aldous Huxley
#7 – “Independence is happiness” – Susan B. Anthony
Don’t mistake independence for loneliness. Independence is freedom, the ability to do the things you love without anyone breathing down on you. A free man is a happy man.
#6 – “Learning never exhausts the mind” – Leonardo da Vinci
Don’t be a Mr/Mrs know-it-all. Be open to learning new things. Have an open mindset and do things you would never do. Let us expand our mental horizon.
#5 – “Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter, try again. Fail again. Fail better.” – Samuel Beckett
At first I was like how does one fail better? But an example would be an easier explanation. You take a self assessment test and you score 20%, you go back to study, come back, take another self assessment, score 40% – still failure but better than the last and you keep going till you get a better score.
#4 – “It is not what you look at that matters, it is what you see.” – Henry David Thoreau
It is all about the vision, where most would see an empty, unproductive land, you see a land of great possibilities, an investment, a structural site for great buildings or maybe one the greatest farmyards to ever be.
#3 – “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” – Thomas A. Edison
If this is not the kind of mentality to practice, then I don’t know what is! Thinking this way just makes giving up a lot more harder.
#2 – “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” – Leonardo da Vinci
Recognize this? I love this quote so much that I had to make it as my tagline when I first started my blog to remind me that there’s satisfaction even in the simplest things of life. You don’t need a 10 bedroom house to be happy or to live a sophisticated life, you don’t need to be able to afford the latest MacBook or iPhone. You don’t even need that jacket from Zara or that Gucci belt. At the end, all that matters is your inner happiness. Be content with simplicity.
#1 – “You don’t love because: you love despite; not for the virtues, but despite the faults.” – William Faulkner
I first heard this quote from a movie and I’d never think a quote could get me into my feelings the way this does. We all think our families are annoying and sometimes embarrassing but we still love them despite that. This quote hit me on a deeper level that I had to make it numero uno.
HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVELIES. THANK YOU FOR BEING PART OF MY WORDPRESS FAMILY. I APPRECIATE EVERYONE AND I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST THIS YEAR!
